The Growing Interest in Low Dose Naltrexone

Low Dose Naltrexone (often called LDN) has become one of the most talked-about compounded therapies in the wellness and chronic illness space. But what makes it so different?

Originally developed in much higher doses for addiction treatment, LDN uses a much smaller dose, typically around 1.5–4.5 mg, and is being explored for its potential role in supporting inflammation balance, immune function, discomfort, fatigue, and overall wellness.

What’s especially interesting is that researchers believe LDN may work differently than traditional medications. Instead of simply masking symptoms, studies suggest it may help calm overactive inflammatory signaling in the body and nervous system.

Another reason patients are drawn to LDN? It is generally well tolerated and customized specifically for the individual through compounding. The most commonly reported side effect in studies was vivid dreams, which often improved over time.

At Powell Pharmacy, we believe personalized care matters. Our compounding team works closely with patients and providers to create customized LDN formulations tailored to individual needs and wellness goals.

Questions about Low Dose Naltrexone? Our pharmacists are here to answer your questions and help you better understand how LDN is being used in personalized, prevention-focused care.

New research published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society found that exposure to PFAS (“forever chemicals”) during childhood may negatively impact bone development during adolescence. These chemicals are commonly found in drinking water, food packaging, nonstick cookware, stain-resistant materials, and many everyday products. The study is another...

With sunny days ahead, sunscreen becomes a daily essential but not all sunscreens are created equal. The two main types you’ll see are mineral (physical) and chemical sunscreens.
