Before Coffee, I Drink This

Every morning, before emails, before my children are awake, before the day gets loud, I “make” my morning drink. It’s simple. It’s consistent. It’s non-negotiable. And it’s one of the most supportive habits I’ve built for my body. It sets the tone for my entire day.

So what’s in my water? Three simple, evidence-based supplements I trust and use daily. Creatine, Collagen, and Fiber.

These are foundational. And foundations are what actually move the needle.

Why These 3 Work Better Together

I’m always preaching foundation over fads, and this stack is exactly that.

Creatine = Power + Brain Fuel
Creatine supports cellular energy production (ATP), strength, power, and lean muscle and it’s one of the most researched performance supplements we have. But this isn’t something I reserve only for workout days. Every cell in your body uses ATP, not just your muscles. There is so much emerging data showing the benefits of creatine for brain health, cognitive resilience, and mental stamina. On days filled with thinking, decision-making, stress, and long hours, creatine supports energy where you need it most, both physically and mentally.

Collagen = Structure + Recovery
Collagen provides key amino acids that support joints, tendons, connective tissue, and yes of course - hair, skin, and nails. I think long-term. I want to move well now and later. Collagen supports recovery after workouts and helps maintain the structural integrity that keeps us active for decades, not just seasons. My collagen also contains hyaluronic acid, which supports joint lubrication, tissue hydration, and connective tissue resilience which is an important complement to collagen’s role in recovery, movement, and long-term structural support.

Fiber = Gut, Metabolism & Mood Support
Fiber is wildly underestimated. And 95% of Americans don’t get enough! It supports digestion, blood sugar balance, cholesterol metabolism, probiotic optimization, and even mood regulation. A calm, supported gut means a more responsive, resilient body.

Together = The Sweet Spot

When combined, these three support:

  • Performance and strength
  • Recovery and joint health
  • Inflammation control
  • Metabolic and gut balance

No extremes. No overwhelm. Just thoughtful, daily support where it matters most, which is why it’s part of my everyday.

Join me in making this a simple, daily foundation for strength, balance, and long-term health.

In this episode of the Intentional Living Podcast, I share why prevention and whole-person health matter so deeply to me, not just as an integrative pharmacist, but as a person who understands that many of us carry real risks for chronic disease, including myself. Because of that, I believe strongly in taking a proactive approach to health rather than waiting until something goes wrong. I talk about the four pillars of intentional living: nutrition, movement, inner alignment, and positive social connections and introduce the Journeys preventive testing platform, which helps us look deeper through advanced biomarker testing. Instead of guessing, these insights allow us to personalize lifestyle and supplement strategies so we can take meaningful steps toward better health and live each day with intention.

Low Dose Naltrexone (often called LDN) has become one of the most talked-about compounded therapies in the wellness and chronic illness space. But what makes it so different? Originally developed in much higher doses for addiction treatment, LDN uses a much smaller dose, typically around 1.5–4.5 mg, and is being explored for its potential role in supporting inflammation balance, immune function, discomfort, fatigue, and overall wellness. What’s especially interesting is that researchers...

We often think about health as the supplements we take, the foods we eat, or how much we exercise but our everyday environment matters too. New research published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society found that exposure to PFAS (“forever chemicals”) during childhood may negatively impact bone development during adolescence. These chemicals are commonly found in drinking water, food packaging, nonstick cookware, stain-resistant materials, and many everyday products. The study is another...

With sunny days ahead, sunscreen becomes a daily essential but not all sunscreens are created equal. The two main types you’ll see are mineral (physical) and chemical sunscreens. Mineral sunscreens use ingredients like Zinc oxide and Titanium dioxide to sit on top of the skin and reflect UV rays. Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, absorb into the skin and use ingredients like Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, and Octinoxate to absorb UV radiation and convert it into heat. While both can be...
